What is a couples therapy intensive?
Is Your Relationship Feeling Stuck? Intensive Couples Therapy Can Help.
Are you and your partner:
Feeling like you’ve hit a wall in couples therapy?
Longing for change but not sure how to start?
Trapped in endless arguments, or struggling to talk about what really matters?
Thinking about separation or divorce, but still want to give it one last shot?
Seeking to build a stronger emotional foundation, fast?
If you answered yes to any of these, a Couples Therapy Intensive could be exactly what you need to get back on track and strengthen your relationship.
What is Intensive Couples Therapy?
It’s a concentrated, all-day therapy experience designed to dive deep into the heart of your relationship. Instead of months of weekly sessions, you’ll work through the key issues over just one focused day, gaining clarity and tools that can bring real change—fast.
Research shows that attachment styles—patterns formed early in life—can significantly affect how we relate to others in adult relationships. If you and your partner are feeling disconnected or caught in negative cycles, understanding and addressing your attachment needs can help you heal and reconnect. In fact, studies show that couples who understand each other’s attachment styles are more likely to experience improved communication and lasting intimacy.
How does it work?
During an intensive session, you’ll meet with me, Hannah Buzzo, MA, LPC, LAC, for an immersive experience that is equivalent to about six months of weekly therapy. You’ll focus on deepening your emotional connection, resolving recurring issues, and learning practical tools to communicate effectively and rebuild trust.
Intensive Couples Therapy is recommended for couples when:
Both partners are motivated to make fast, meaningful changes
The emotional distance between you is growing, and the distress is starting to feel unbearable
Your schedules make weekly therapy hard to stick to
You feel like weekly therapy has stalled or isn’t making progress
You want to explore the root causes of your problems and address them head-on
One or both of you need more privacy than regular therapy allows
Why Choose Intensive Therapy?
If you're facing the kind of crises that can lead to drifting apart (like infidelity, communication breakdowns, or lack of trust), intensive therapy can help you reconnect quickly and effectively. The research is clear: couples who actively invest in repairing their emotional bonds see improvement faster. In fact, studies show that intensive therapy models can provide better results than traditional weekly therapy sessions, especially for couples in distress.
How is My Intensive Different?
In my Half-Day Intensives, you’ll experience a personalized, private therapy session tailored specifically to your unique relationship needs. Together, we’ll work on:
Improving how you communicate without defensiveness
Rebuilding trust after betrayal or hurt
Learning how to navigate conflict without damaging each other
Understanding and addressing your attachment needs
Nurturing your bond so you both feel valued and heard
At the end of the day, you’ll leave with actionable skills, a clear plan for next steps, and renewed hope for your relationship.
Why is This So Effective?
Couples often find that traditional therapy feels slow or ineffective, especially when dealing with serious relationship struggles. A concentrated intensive session allows us to dive deep into the emotional layers that might take months to uncover in weekly sessions. Whether it’s healing from infidelity, reigniting fading intimacy, or simply re-learning how to communicate, you’ll walk away with concrete tools to move forward.
Research supports this approach: Single-session therapy and intensive therapy formats have shown to be especially helpful for couples facing crises. This concentrated time together can make a huge difference in how you understand and support each other.
A Proven Method: The Power of Attachment Theory
Attachment theory plays a huge role in how we connect with our partners. Your early experiences with caregivers shape your emotional blueprint, which impacts how you show up in relationships as adults. If you’re struggling to feel secure with each other, understanding your attachment styles (whether anxious, avoidant, or secure) can be a game-changer. By exploring these patterns, you can begin to create a healthier dynamic—one built on trust, vulnerability, and a deeper connection.
The Logistics: What to Expect
Full-Day Intensive: 6 hours of personalized therapy in a comfortable, private setting—$1,250.
Half-Day Intensive: 3 hours of focused therapy—$750.
You’ll get:
A mix of one-on-one counseling and partner-focused work
Space to express your feelings safely and openly
Practical tools for resolving conflict and rebuilding emotional closeness
Tangible next steps for creating long-term change
Is This Right for You?
Intensive Couples Therapy is not recommended if:
One or both partners are actively struggling with addiction
There’s an ongoing affair or betrayal that hasn’t been addressed
Both partners aren’t fully committed to improving the relationship
But if you’re uncertain whether this approach is a fit for your relationship, let’s talk! I offer a pre-intensive screening callwhere we can discuss your needs and figure out if this is the right path forward.
Follow-Up Support
I don’t leave you hanging after the intensive session. We can schedule follow-up sessions to help you stay on track, refine your skills, and continue making progress. With more than 8 years of experience in couples counseling, I know that long-term change requires ongoing support—and I’m here for you.
The Truth About Relationships
Research shows that 55% of first marriages and 65% of second marriages end in divorce. Yet many couples who are facing separation could thrive if they invested in the right kind of therapy at the right time. Don't wait until it's too late. With the right tools and guidance, you can turn things around before the damage is irreversible.
